Falk Foundation Awards Ireland
At Dr. Falk Pharma, looking to the future is a vital part of what we do. That’s why we are passionate about encouraging and supporting the next generation of HCPs who may be considering building their careers in gastroenterology and hepatology. The Awards have been established with the specific aim of encouraging and rewarding medical students and healthcare professionals in Ireland with a research interest in gastroenterology and hepatology.
Awards History
The Dr. Falk Pharma/ Guts UK Awards, in partnership with the charity Guts UK, have been running in the UK since 2006, to reward and encourage UK based doctors, nurses and dietitians who have demonstrated excellence within the fields of digestive and metabolic disease.
We were therefore pleased, in 2020, to extend these awards for Specialist Registrars (StRs) and IBD / liver nurses based in Ireland. The winners of each category receive financial support, to enable them to continue with their chosen work as well as a chance to share their project with their peers.
The SpR (StR) Award, runs in conjunction with the SpR Training Scheme, is designed to encourage young doctors to consider quality improvement projects that address an area of clinical need within gastroenterology, pancreatology, liver disease or nutrition and that also demonstrate clear patient benefit.
Similarly, the IBD Nurse Award is set to recognise an initiative which has improved patient care in these fields. This award are supported by the IBD Nurses Association of Ireland.
The year 2025 marks 20 years of Dr. Falk Pharma in the UK and Ireland as well as the expansion of the Falk Foundation activities to both countries, extending our commitment to HCP and patient education. Aiming to recognise more healthcare professional for their successes in clinical practice or research, we are proud to announce the Liver Nurse Award in Ireland as a new award category for initiatives which have improved patient care in the field of hepatology. The new award is supported by the Irish Liver Nurse Association.
